Highly under rated hotel!
from London, England (June 7, 2005)
I came back from my holiday a couple of days ago and i must say that this was a really great hotel! I think that it is extremly underrated. When we first arrived at the hotel, my impression from just looking at the outside was not great. But that all changed as soon at we stepped into the lobby! The staff were extremely friendly and curteous. They showed us to our rooms and explained how everything worked. The room we were in was extremely large for a standard twin room when compared to the four other hotels we stayed at in Thailand. I must admit that although the food was good, it wasn´t great but there is a wide selection to choose from so it is easy to avoid something that you don´t like. The presentation of the food was excellent. They have a roof top swimming pool which is quite small and basic but it does its jobs. Sun loungers are few and far between but the pool was never over crowded while we were there. They have a small gym with two treadmills, two bikes and a climber. I liked the fact that it was cosy and we always seemed to have the gym to ourselves. It costs around 80 Baht taxi ride to get to the centre of Bankok (i.e Siam square) or you can walk to a sky train station (Chit Lom, i think) and it will take about 10 mins and 20-30 baht by the sky train. There is a great restaurant (exit the hotel and turn right until you reach a mini mall) called sukothai which had some really lovely thai food for about 500 baht all in. You could also try the sea food market where you can eat lobster for about 1500 baht (around £20). Great experience and in a pretty good location.

Excellent environment and working attitude from staff which makes my trip unforgettable.
by Chau Tsz Wai from Hong Kong (September 26, 2005)
Front desk staff, Sirithorn (Rose?) and a bellboy trainee (Nanai??? I forget the name??) provides me an unforgettable experience in Bangkok from 7-12 Sept. I must put Davis as my first priority in next trip in Bangkok.

A fine hotel
by Bill from USA (December 8, 2005)
This is a fine hotel. Well stocked mini-bar, his and her ropes, and very clean! However, what impressed me the most was the bathroom. A separate tub and shower, hot water with a lot of pressure. It is located on soi 24 witch is at Phrom Phong skytrain station. However it is a little far to walk, you can get a free Tuk-Tuk ride from the hotel to the station. The only thing I did not like was the bed. It is a king size bed, but with two matters push together; also as hard as a rock. I have lived in Thailand and have slept on many hard matters. This was one of the hardest. Bathroom GREAT! Bed fair.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel at a Great Value!
from Hong Kong (June 8, 2005)
Whenever I´m in Bangkok for business, this is the hotel I stay at. Previously have stayed at the Sukhothai and the Banyan Tree, which were both nice, but have been back at the Davis my past 3 visits. Why? It´s a fascinating, unique and beautiful hotel that has great service while being very good value. The first time I stayed there with a small group, they upgraded us from the entry-level rooms we paid for to a 2 bedroom suite. It was HUGE and gorgeous. Beautiful decor, very tasteful lighting, and giant bedrooms, with a large separate living area and kitchen. The bathroom had to be seen to be believed, with large walk-in closet spaces separating the bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. The 2nd I was there, they still gave me an upgrade to another suite, and the 3rd time, maybe because they recognized me, to the Presidential suite which was multilevel, separting the kitchen with the living room, and 2 bedrooms. The bathroom had a huge jacuzzi tub in the master ensuite. Each of the suites I stayed in was appointed differently with different layouts. This is definitely not a chain hotel with 200 of the same rooms. The lobby was very modern and chic, with a beautiful restaurant bar on one side, and a more casual cafe on the other, which is also where they served the buffet breakfast. Unlike the previous poster, we thought the breakfast was great, especially for one that was included in the room rate. If we had been upgraded to one of their villas in the back like he was, we would have been over the moon! They also have a great spa adjoining the property. Spa treatments and massages are very affordable, and the service is great. The whole spa and outdoor villa area is gorgeous, unlike anything we´ve seen in Bangkok. With the trees blocking any of the city buildings surrounding the hotel, it really feels like you´re in Phuket or Krabi instead of Bangkok. They have also have a nice rooftop pool next to the gym. Though the pool definitely has a "city feel" as you can see neighboring high-rises, it´s still a nice escape. Combine it with the great business location of Sukhumvit Soi 24 and you´ve got almost the perfect boutique hotel at a great price. Really love this hotel!

When staying in Thailand, expect to live in a Thai style room. Otherwise, why Thailand. Unfortunately the room we stayed was much more western style than we thought it should be....

Great hotel!
from Toronto, Canada (June 23, 2005)
This was a great surprise. The rate was very good (US$70/night) so we were a little nervous. Staff was gracious and very helpful. They upgraded us to a deluxe suite which was deluxe. Beautiful decor, great free breakfast buffet, wonderful rooftop pool. The location isn´t as great as being on the river at the Peninsula but it is an easy walk or tuk tuk to the sky train. All in all a great deal in a great city. I would stay here again in a second.

Huge nice rooms, but breakfast and service could be better
from Singapore (July 23, 2005)
Stayed there in January for 1night, then went to Ayuthaya and came back for another night. The corridors are lacking some fresh air and appear long and dark. The room (we had a themed room in Thai style) was quite large with nice decoration, a nice marble bathroom and even a hifi-system. I was a bit disappointed from the service which was very slow, especially at the reception (check-in and check-out) and some of the staff were not very proficient in English. The breakfast could also need some improvement. I asked for a peppermint tea and they just said yes but brought me a green tea instead. I accepted but when I was leaving the restaurant, they wanted to charge me for the green tea because the breakfast (which was included in the room rate) includes only regular coffee or black tea. This made me upset because the Davis claims to be 5 star and the cost of around 90 USD per night is not really cheap for Bangkok. I complained to the front desk manager and asked whether we could get an upgrade to a Deluxe room for our second stay to make up for the anger. She apologised and we finally received one of the villas which are separated behind the hotel. It was really gorgeous, 2 storey in a luxurious Thai design. A village retreat in the midst of the city... The only thing they still didn´t manage was the tea: When I wanted to go for breakfast the other morning, the front desk manager told me that they´d still charge me if I wanted another green tea...

Absolutely fantastic hotel
from Canterbury, Kent (July 22, 2005)
Stayed here for a week, so we qualfied for an upgrade to a junior suite. The room was gorgeous, with a huge living room and kitchen. The hotel itself is modern, spacious, and exquisitely well kept. The staff were friendly and knowledgable, they organised a few things for us which where all perfectly executed. Location - very good, bit of a walk to Emporium shopping centre, but they have a free shuttle golf cart thing, or you can pick up a cab outside for pence. The area is up and coming, with some nice resturants next door if you can´t be bothered to walk far, also a great ice cream palour opposite, and a convenience store for water and stuff. Facilies where great, fab roof top pool, gym, cool jazz bar downstair with great ( if a little small) cocktails. Can´t recomend it enough, great value. Can´t wait to go back.

Excellent Rooms with Great Services
by Lee May Lian Jane from Singapore (November 30, 2005)
This place is really good and its value for money. A one way Tuktuk service was provided for guests from the hotel to BTS/Emporium at every hald an hour´s interval. However, I had alot of problems with cab drivers who declined to drive me back to the hotel. The only way I could ensure that I can take a cab back is when I take the BTS to Phrom Phong station & take a cab from the taxi stand outside Emporium & even if I was able to take a cab, many of the drivers did not know the way to the hotel. The thing that puzzles me most is why cab drivers refuse to go that area. On the whole, I would still say that the stay at the hotel is a very good one.

Nice hotel with not so excellent staff
by Joyce Sim from Singapore (January 7, 2006)
First impression - very helpful staff that welcome us at the entrance. Our luggage were moved to the reception promptly. Sadly, our good impression ended there. Check-in and check-out were quite slow even when there´s no other guests, needs to be improved. However, room is big, clean and comfortable. Bathroom is excellent. Location wise, not so great. Luckily hotel has a tuk-tuk shuttle service to the Emporium. The hotel should consider having a shuttle service back to the hotel too.

Its a walking distance to the skytrain station; say, 10mins walk for me.. chic restaurants & bar right next to hotel if you want to people-watch
by LYNN SHENG from SINGAPORE (February 20, 2006)
I had an strange opportunity to stay at The Davis because for one, I didn´t book any accomodations beforehand, basically just decided to pack & go to Bangkok, figured it shouldn´t be any problem Only to arrive got turned down one by one. Then I saw The Davis & walked right in. They only had the suite left; the india-themed suite. So i just took it. It was abit ridiculous having travelled alone but it was worth the money spent for it. I´ve never stayed in luxurious hotels when I visit Bangkok but I think everyone should at least splurge once and at The Davis. The front desk staff speaks excellent English and are highly efficient and accomodating with your every request which I believe everyone will say, yes but you´re paying for it. Least to say, The Davis is worth every penny you´ve forked out for even for just one night. Enjoy!

Excellent value
by Y Lacey from UK (December 27, 2005)
This is the second time we stayed at the Davis and we are very likely to stay again in future visits. Rooms are always lovely and the healthspa is pretty good. Location is also not bad although I suspect it will improve once the construction work is completed. Food in the restaurant is not much to rave about though and the gym could do with significant improvements.

Brand new hotel, a bit too expensive but good service
by SEBASTIEN LOPEZ from Lyon, France (December 20, 2005)
Hi If you want the cheapest hotel for te best service, this is the wrong place... Price per room is higher than usual, but the hotel is very nice, people are REALLY willing to help you (that is thailand!)and location is not too bad (quiet, and 5 minutes walk to skytrain, not that much to do around but the area is changing fast... Very good thai restaurant -sukkotai- very good chinese in front, awfull italian!!!). The swimming pool is a bit small but very nice. Rooms are large and clean. Hotel Restaurant and breakfast quality are very high, and the bar is cosy... If you are looking for a very nice and quiet place, with top service and average price, then Davis is for you. We enjoyed the stay, and we will probably go back there next time.

For the Money - Just Can´t beat Davis
by Gunn from New York (February 15, 2006)
Maybe my review is a little biased because my friends and I were upgraded from two Deluxe rooms to the Presidential Suite. Nevertheless, I have stayed in other Bangkok hotels such as the Metropolitan, The Peninsula, and even Presdent Park and I must say that this hotel compares favorably to the Metropolitan, which charges a few more bucks. It is a Boutique hotel that combines the elements from Classical Thai Design with the Clean and Modern of the W chain. The reception desk is accomodating with good English and the Hotel Lounge is convenient if you don´t mind the 211 Baht Heineken. The location is off the main Sukhumvit Rd/BTS by a good walk, but you can always stop by and check out the handful of new Spas and foot massage places along the way. Hop on the Mototaxi to and from the BTS if you dare!

Just fantastic
by Deepak Whorra from New Delhi, India (June 26, 2006)
Everything was good . To get still better, they need to : 1. Reduce the time taken to check in 2. Any external services taken through the Hotel staff are very expensive ex. I booked a Taxi for the Airport and that cost me 600 Baht. En route, the taxi driver informed that he had to pay 150 Baht as commission to the Hotel staff. 3. All tourist attractions , if booked through the Hotel staf, cost us 50% more including sightseeing tours However I eel that it is not the Hotel that is doing this but certain staff members. The Hotel is the best that I have ever stayed in. And I should know since I am a world traveller for over 25 yeARS
